Where the Blue Ridge joins the Appalachian plateau
Stands a monument of rocky history
It’s a giant of a hump, a rocky barren bump,
A mountain with its own mystery

At the foot, along creek banks, at the head or on the flanks
Are vibrations the people feel and know
I’m gonna try to tell in verse about the center of the universe
The place they call the mighty Buffalo

Buffalo Mountain reaches to the sky
On its slopes the trees and grasses grow so high
There's quartz deep inside, it’s Floyd county’s pride
The place they call the mighty Buffalo

Burk’s Fork is at the bottom, Slate Mountain’s to the rear
Adam’s branch and Laurel creek run clear
Long Mountain’s to the South, you’ve got Willis to the North
In the center stands the Mountain oh so dear

People climb it on the Solstice and on Easter Sunday too
Folks have done this from ages long ago
‘Cause there’s magic in the air, there’s vitality to spare
At the place they call the mighty Buffalo

Buffalo Mountain reaches to the sky
On its slopes the trees and grasses grow so high
There's quartz deep inside, it’s Floyd county’s pride
The place they call the mighty Buffalo {BREAK}

People make a little dew in the hollers far from view
And some folks are known to grow a herb or two
Rock churches all around help keep the trouble down
And the Buffalo smiles down on me and you

Buffalo Mountain reaches to the sky
On its slopes the trees and grasses grow so high
There's quartz deep inside, it’s Floyd county’s pride
The place they call the mighty Buffalo
