I’m an outside dog – ain’t got no papers from the AKC
There’s not an inside dog I know - would be treated like me
I’m the bottom of the totem pole – a bone underground
I’m an outside dog … one step ahead of the pound
This outside dog pays the bills, planting big old trees
Getting dirty and muddy – from my boots up to my knees
When I get back to the shop - they won’t let me inside
They make me stay on the porch – but I take it all in stride
I’m an outside dog … come rain or shine
They won’t let me inside - but you won’t hear me whine
I’m an outside dog … who lays it all on the line
I reckon I’ll stay outside … the porch just suits me fine
{Break}
There’s a dog named Buck, down at work - has the run of the place
See, he’s the inside dog – they never get on his case
He’ll roll in the dirt all day – chase squirrels in the mud
Come in and sit on all the couches & chairs– I guess he’s the local stud
But me, I’m an outside dog – ain’t got no papers from the AKC
There’s not an inside dog I know - would be treated like me
I’m the bottom of the totem pole – a bone underground
I’m an outside dog … one step ahead of the pound
I’m an outside dog … come rain or shine
They won’t let me inside - but you won’t hear me whine
I’m an outside dog … who lays it all on the line
I reckon I’ll stay outside … the porch just suits me fine
I’m just an outside dog … that porch just suits me fine
